This paper presents a decision support system (DSS) built for supporting the profitability analysis and long term planning of area development projects. Area development projects are shortly introduced, the different decision-making problems related to area development projects, and the multi-agent character of the projects is discussed. The structure and the functionalities of the DSS are presented. The actual use of the system in Finland is presented and discussed.
