Numerical simulation of 2D MHD flows-/spl Psi/-/spl xi/-A method

Described in this paper is the flow of a viscous, non-compressible liquid with a property of electric current conduction, inside a channel with a rapidly expanded section, in an external magnetic field (B/spl I.oarr//sub 0/). A description is made using two vector potentials (A/spl I.oarr/, /spl Psi//spl I.oarr/), and the vorticity vector (/spl xi//spl I.oarr/), which form a system of three simultaneous, quasilinear equations of the elliptic type. An approximation is applied by constructing an iterative, finite difference algorithm for obtaining discrete value distribution of the above fields.
