We introduce spectral-shaping coding techniques for interference mitigation, which is based on look-ahead block inversion applied to ultra-wideband time-hopped signals, by changing both the time offsets and the polarity of each pulse. Implementation complexity is reduced through the use of the Viterbi algorithm, and simulation results and design guidelines are presented. We calculate the effect of timing jitter on the performance and conclude that jitter effects are negligible for rms jitter values of less than 10 ps in most situations.
