Quick start oscillator architecture and its CMOS implementation are described in this paper. The ability to power down a system when not in use and reliably restart when needed has a great benefit when it comes to saving power. One of the most difficult circuits to turn on quickly is the crystal oscillator. Typically it takes between a few milliseconds to tens of milliseconds for an oscillator to start. It will be shown with this implementation, that the start-up time will be approximately ten microseconds.
