An LCLC resonant DC-DC converter with PWM control-analysis, simulation, and implementation

A four-element (LCLC) resonant DC-DC power converter is presented. Equal ratios of resonant inductors and capacitors seem to provide overall optimum performance. The steady state characteristics using simple AC circuit analysis shows that the four-element resonant converter exhibits load-independent operation at two switching frequencies. The performance characteristics are obtained for a given set of design parameters. Closed-loop control of output voltage is explained with a block diagram. The converter is implemented close to a switching frequency of 100 kHz with the output voltage varied by pulse width modulation (PWM). The experimental results agree well with the Saber simulation results.
