On-line power transformer monitoring at Electricite de France

This article presents an online monitoring system for power transformers developed and evaluated on several transformers at EDF. It combines acoustic, electrical and chemical measurements of partial discharges to establish a diagnostic of the transformers and generate an alarm if admitted thresholds are exceeded. This system is modular and can be used for monitoring for several months or to make a diagnosis in a few days.
