Dual-wavelength-pumped fiber Raman converter for wavelength conversion at 10 Gbit/s

Wavelength conversion by stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in fibers is known to be efficient because of its long interaction length achievable by fibers' waveguide structure. But the application of SRS to information wavelength conversion is not straightforward, because either a long propagation distance leading to temporal walk-off or a high input signal intensity leading to nonlinear phase distortion is required for efficient conversion. We propose to overcome this problem by use of dual wavelength-pumped Raman shifting method.
