Operation of a fast-frequency-step-tunable 1 MW gyrotron with hybrid-magnet system

A hybrid magnet-system for a 1 MW 140 GHz gyrotron was developed. Problems which occurred during the experiments are discussed. Experimental results of fast magnetic and electric frequency tuning with steps of more than 14 GHz per second are discussed.
