Guiding carreer sources

Many students are so immersed with technical subject matter that they often overlook what is needed for success in the "real world." With this in mind, the IEEE has developed an award-winning, interactive CD-ROM (polybagged with this issue), two videos, and a web-based Question & Answer (Q&A) system. "We want to encourage students to think about careers early and provide them with the appropriate resources to do so," says Peter Wiesner, director of continuing education for the IEEE Educational Activities. Along with 10 other professional associations, the IEEE received funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to develop these materials which explore career opportunities open to scientists, engineers and mathematicians.
