Effect of bubbles on breakdown strengths of perfluorocarbon liquid and the liquid with dissolved SF/sub 6/

To evaluate performance of non-flammable power apparatus, the effects of bubbles with and without dissolved SF/sub 6/ gas on the AC and lightning impulse insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon is studied. With the bubbles in perfluorocarbon liquid, breakdown phenomena related to bubbles crossing a uniform field gap studied. Then, relationships between bubble behavior and the insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon are discussed.
