A reference model for tuning controllers in power systems

A reference model scheme is presented for coordination of controllers with the purpose of enhancing the damping of interarea oscillations in power systems. The controller's parameters are calculated by an unconstrained optimization algorithm. Strong and simultaneous stabilization concepts are used to check the applicability of results under different operating conditions.
