Error Vector Magnitude (EVM)-Based Constellation Combiner for Cooperative Relay Network

This letter proposes a novel diversity combining technique based on error vector magnitude (EVM) for a cooperative relay network. EVM is the vector difference for a given time between the transmitted signal and the received signal. At the destination, the proposed combiner combines the minimum EVM constellations obtained from the received links. Analytical and real-time analysis using Wireless open Access Research Platform (WARP) shows that, the proposed technique gives a better performance with less computation complexity compared to conventional diversity combining techniques like maximal ratio combining (MRC) and equal gain combining (EGC).
