Abstract:
Can Nigeria afford to be oblivion of governance of Information Technology (IT)? This study explores the dearth of research in the field of Information Technology Governance (ITG) in the developing nation context. It goes to show the reasons behind the need to think out of the box which informed the focus on ITG in developed nations. ITG is seen as the desired IT behaviour geared toward sustaining the current and future needs of an organisation. This paper investigates studies on ITG in the content of Nigeria. It reviewed the essence of ITG coming up with an operational definition, reviewed IT studies in Nigeria depicting the governmental efforts. The paper advocates a renewed interest in ITG studies comparing what is obtainable in Nigeria with Malaysia. Recommendation towards implementation of ITG and reporting same was given. This is to be imbibed by both public and private entities of Nigeria in particular and any developing nations in general.
