Simulator for switched-current integrated circuits

An efficient transistor-level simulator for switched-current (SI) integrated circuits is presented. By assuming that the circuit settles completely within each switching interval, the transient analysis reduces to solving a set of non-linear algebraic equations per switching interval. With an additional assumption of small-signal operation, the frequency response can be obtained by running only one transient simulation to extract the bias point and then performing the standard frequency-domain analyses for switched networks. An SI filter and a sigma-delta A/D converter are used to demonstrate the simulator where BSIM3v3 is fully implemented as a MOSFET model.
