Diagnostic reasoning based on a human mathematical model

Mathematical models play an important role in the study of the human physiological system, and they are widely used in system simulation. However, little research has been done on applying mathematical models to quantitative reasoning. The authors constructed an object oriented and data-driven intelligent knowledge base (IKB) from a human mathematical model. It can perform intelligent operations such as incomplete computation and equation solution. A diagnostic reasoning strategy based on this IKB is introduced. An implemented quantitative reasoning system called QNREASON is also presented. The definite reasoning result of an experiment shows that quantitative reasoning can make full use of the digital computer's significant advantages in numerical computation.
