A non-model-based controller used in process control

A non-model-based controller (NMBC) used in process control is presented. It has three features: 1) it does not need any mathematical model; 2) the adjustable parameters of the NMBC have practical interpretation, so they can be determined easily using human experience; and 3) the contribution of NMBC to a controlled plant is separated into two parts-steady state contribution and transient contribution. Two methods are employed to tune the NMBC parameters. The experiment and simulation results show that NMBC is very effective especially when there are variations in the process dynamics.
