The Bigger Picture

Attitudes to health and safety were very different 80 years ago when a photographer captured this picture of 11 men taking a break from work on the RCA Building at New York City's Rockefeller Centre. The ironworkers pictured in the iconic image 'Lunch atop a skyscraper' were seated on a 69th-floor girder more than 250m above the Manhattan streets during the last months prior to completion of the 70-storey building in 1933.
