Non-contact induced thermal disturbance of MR head signals

In this paper, we reported that signal disturbances of the MR sensors could be induced by fluctuation of the spacing between the MR sensors and the disk surfaces, even without a head/disk contact. Both the experimental and the theoretical results suggest that the temperature rise of the MR sensor will decrease as the head/disk spacing decreases due to the heat transfer through a rotating disk.
