Alcoa Global Primary Products' reliability excellence evolution

Alcoa Aluminum Global Primary Products Division has been implementing a formal asset reliability strategy since 2004. This program, known as REX, includes best practices adopted from different experts, consultants and model companies. REX has expanded, evolved and matured into a division wide mandatory process due to its demonstrated success in improving stability and reducing costs in our plants. This paper describes the program and relates its history from inception in U.S. smelters through the deployment in all Primary Products plants around the world, including new facilities in Iceland, Brazil and Saudi Arabia.
