Experience with controlled high direct-voltage tests on stator windings of rotating machines

Controlled high direct-voltage tests are useful for detecting groundwall insulation defects in the stator windings of rotating machines. This paper describes how such a test is especially sensitive to fissures and tape separations in the end winding immediately adjacent to the slot.
