Gas turbine and generator controls: A user prospective

In this paper, the gas turbine and generator controls are discussed with the aim to develop intuitive user understanding. The paper discusses control issues like droop and isochronous modes of governor control and excitation system voltage control. Also, the subject of islanding, generator capability curve, limiters, PSS and synchronization are discussed. Furthermore, to clear confusions, basics of excitation system like VARs notations, PF notations and torque angle are discussed.
