Performance Analysis of Dual Hop Transmission with Selection Combining Fixed Relay

We study a dual-hop transmission in Rayleigh fading channels where the relay uses Amplify and Forward (AF) protocol and Selection Combining (SC) technique. A closed-form expression for probability density function of the overall received SNR at the destination is derived and Monte Carlo simulation is used to verify the result. The performance analysis also is presented in terms of the Average Bit Error Rate(ABER) and the outage probability. Numerical results show that the proposed relay system outperform the conventional relays which use a single antenna in receiver and transmitter.
