Hearing aids: fixed microphone arrays with frequency equalization based on a sliding DFT

Fixed microphone arrays have the ability of spatial filtering in order to cancel any distributed interference. Noise sensitivity constrained by an optimal broadband beamforming provides for more tolerance to uncorrelated noise such as microphone sensor interior noise and environmental competing speech. However, the non-uniform performance of broadband beamforming in the frequency domain, may lead to speech deformation. This paper proposes a frequency equalization method implemented by a sliding DFT array that can be conveniently combined with beamforming.
