A Gate Array CAD System and Future Tasks in the Field

Fujitsu has become devoted to developing large scale CMOS gate array including that of 8000 gates (C8000VH), and has developed integrated CAD system. The chip is constructed based on the basic cell conception originally proposed in 1976(l), and double metal layers are utilized for interconnection among cells(2) (3). This paper describes the array structure of CMOS gate array and the CAD system to design a large scale gate array such as C8000VH.
