Dynamic solution of distribution planning in intermediate time range

The time-phase mode of the long-range distribution planning model introduced in a recent publication by the authors (1985) is applied to an actual distribution system. The model incorporates an accurate formulation of the continuous nonlinear cost function. Once the load-time variation in the area under consideration is known, the model takes into account the different types of costs (fixed costs, variable costs, and the cost of energy losses) for all planned facilities (substations and feeders), and then either the optimum construction or expansion of the system is obtained to satisfy the network operational and security constraints. A realistic utility example is used to compare the dynamic and the static solutions.<
