The accuracy of noise figure measurements has been consistently compromised by the noise generated within the measurement system itself. In a simple, uncomplicated measurement setup, the instrumentation has no way of separating the device-under-test (DUT) noise from its own noise, and the indicated result includes the noise contribution of the measurement system.
