Reflections on a PC-AT as a Controller

Over the past five years PCs have become a ubiquitous part of an engineer's environment. If only due to the ever increasing familiarity, it is logical to consider using a PC as an instrument controller. This paper is a discussion of our attempt to use a PC as such and the difficulties and rewards encountered.
