Lead time (license, construction, fuel- load) for nuclear units is an important factor in planning for resources to meet future loads. The average lead time estimate has increased by 20 months between 1977 and 1982. Analysis of actual versus estimated lead time shows considerable uncertainty in the estimated lead time.
