Virtual environment construction for driving simulator

This paper describes a new interactive software especially designed for making driving simulator's virtual environment on a current high-performance graphic workstation. A technique is presented to construct a virtual town interactively and to drive the town real time. This system makes it possible to generate virtual environment such as roads, buildings, traffic lights, signs, traffic flow and so on for the virtual driving in the town. The system consists of three functions: road generation, virtual town construction and driving simulation.<
