Relationships: implementing transparency in distributed management systems

Network systems consist of groups of objects which work together to fulfil common management functions. The required functionality of management systems depend on the management policy which applies to it, and governs its structure and behaviour. Management policy can be implemented as an active relationship between objects forming the management system where an active relationship includes a relationship and behaviour. Distribution transparencies hide the effect of distribution in distributed systems, and their support simplifies the implementation of distributed systems. This paper identifies various distribution transparencies that are considered valuable in distributed management systems, and shows how these transparencies can be implemented using Traders and policy relationships between objects.<
