Electrical conductivity and pyro-electric measurements on PZT: PVDF composites

PZT:PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) composites were prepared in different weight ratios. The electrical conductivity of these samples was measured as a function of temperature and field. It was found that the conductivity increased from 10/sup -14/ (ohm cm)/sup -1/ to 10/sup -11/ (ohm cm)/sup -1/ as the percentage of PZT in the composites was increased from 70% to 90% by weight. The pyroelectric current and dielectric constant of these composites were also studied. The pyroelectric coefficient increased from 40 to 76 n Coul/cm/sup 2// degrees C as PZT was increased from 70% to 90% by weight in the composites at 50 degrees C.<
