Optimization of the downlink frame length in adaptive systems

Performance and limitations of adaptive multi-user multi-carrier downlink systems in time-variant wireless channel are considered. It is shown that maximization of system throughput requires either non-uniform error protection scheme, or the same long error-correction code with optimized rate should be used.
