Quality of the power network as affected by the penetration of distribution generation

This paper presents a study for the effect of the presence of distribution generation DG on the distribution network. The system losses are calculated for different system configurations (with and without DG's). In addition, the study concerned with transient performance. So, the study system integrated by DG units is exposed to the most common disturbances i.e. load switching and the severest one: three-phase to ground faults. Results of this work should be valuable in planning studies.
