Grid is an IT (research) infrastructure for dynamic collecting, integrating and sharing distributed heterogeneous (research) resources connected by various (high-speed) networks. Many enterprises have been consolidating IT resources such as servers and storage into data centers in order to reduce the total cost of ownership.
