Explosion of thin aluminum foils in air

The electrical explosion of a cylindrical Al foil was studied. The experiments were carried out using an inductive storage facility with a current of up to 40 kA. Owing to the high inductance of the storage (240 μH), the current was staying constant during the explosion process. The fuse explosion was studied in the time range of 0.1 ms
