Erasure communication channel statistics

Three categories of density functions are demonstrated for an erasure communication channel where the output is restricted to being greater than some threshold. The exponential, gamma, and geometric variables are in the first category by a variance that goes to a constant value as the threshold goes to infinity. The Gaussian, Rayleigh, and Poisson random variables are in a second category characterized by a variance that goes to zero as the threshold goes to infinity. In the last category is the power law random variable characterized by a variance that goes to the infinity as the threshold goes to infinity. The first category is described by an exponential drop-off of the density function or the probability function, the second category by a drop-off that is more rapid than exponential, and the last category by a drop-off that is less rapid than the exponential.<
