Design of microspectrometers

We review several spectrometer designs that use adaptive space-variance to reduce the total collected data and increase information content. We show a conceptual diagram of a simple space-variant spectrometer with adjustable dispersion. The spectrometer is used in imaging mode to disperse a complete line of object points simultaneously in the output plane. The MEMS mirrors in the input plane are designed to change the light path through the spectrometer on a pixel-by-pixel basis.
