On the Graphical Representation of Electric Field Lines in Waveguide

A method is presented for illustrating the time-varying behavior of electric field lines in the neighborhood of a parallel-plate waveguide E-plane step discontinuity. Sequences of electic field plots illustrating the time-varying behavior for several E-plane step heights are included. The method presented is applicable to analogous junctions in rectangular waveguide and can be extended to more complex waveguide structures.
