Concrete assurance system technology (CAST) metrology system for an industrial environ

This paper presents both an adoptive and adaptive ultrasonic transducer sensor system operating in a hostile industrial environment. The transducer experiences a environment that is made up of: electromagnetic interferences, quick temperature fluctuations, heavy relative humidity changes, high decibel levels, staid cultural changes, manual operating procedures, dirty and dusty air environment, vibration, pallet kickback and pallet material build-up. This system has been designed to be self-diagnostic every three seconds and to create a new zero-base measurement for each pallet accounting for the material build-up. This system provides between 200 to 300 measurements every six seconds. The transducer system furnishes the block manufacturer criteria for cost savings and better quality control leading to a better final product to the customer.
