Investigation of switching transient effects on power systems including wind farms

Switching transients occur quite frequently in medium-sized independent power systems including wind farms. However, the characteristics and the consequences of these phenomena have not been thoroughly investigated, taking into account the complexity of the network configuration. In this paper a contribution to that direction is made, focusing on the power system of Greek island Crete.
