Product Safety and the use of EMC techniques to evaluate the 30 Amp Ground continuity test

In order for many AC mains connected devices to meet, or be certified to, their relevant safety standard, a ground continuity test must be performed as one of the safety tests. Performance of such a test is to ensure that ground contact points, wire, and wire connectors have been assembled properly. However, the authors of this paper have found that the ground continuity test, as described by today's standard, is not adequate in assuring good earthing connections. The authors explored other product safety and EMC techniques to determine if there is a bad wire connection or broken wire in a product's grounding system.
