Accurate calculation of eye diagrams and error rates in long-haul transmission systems

We found the distribution of phase and timing jitter in a DMS system to be Gaussian-distributed. After their removal, the residual noise Fourier components obey a multivariate-Gaussian distribution, allowing us to accurately calculate eye diagrams and error rates.
