Post-Fault Operation Scenerio in a Wind Integrated Microgrid: Voltage Recovery Issue and Solution

In recent years, more and more wind power is getting integrated into power system to reduce the share of fossil fuel in power generation. The dynamics of present wind generations are different than that of conventional power generations and hence create adverse effect on system stability. In this paper, IEEE 43 bus test system is integrated with wind generation to find its impact on post-fault operation scenario. It has been noticed through simulations that increased share of wind in generation deteriorates the post-fault voltage recovery performance of the system. Placement of battery energy storage system (BESS) at wind generation terminal can be a solution to such problems.
