Metamaterial Based Quad Band Hexagonal Slot Antenna for Wireless Applications

Quad-band hexagonal slot antenna loaded with SRR for wireless applications is proposed. Four bands are achieved by introducing a square split ring resonator on the arm of the slot. The proposed antenna has dimensions of 50 x 50 x 0.8 mm

and offers an impedance bandwidth of 2.29% (3.02-3.09GHz), 1.16% (4.02-4.067), 8.18% (5.3-5.75), and 2.32% (7.26-7.43) with center frequencies of 3.06 GHz, 4.05 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 7.32 GHz, respectively. The extra resonant bands are produced by changing the dimensions of SRR and by positioning the arm of hexagonal slot antenna with SRR structure. In addition, the proposed antenna shows acceptable gain and monopolar radiation pattern for all the working bands.
