A Folded Microstrip Antenna Structure Based Differential Phase Shift Keying Modulation Technique

Modulating electromagnetic signals in the antenna circuitry is discussed in this paper. The benefit of integrating high speed electronic elements with the antenna design is demonstrated numerically. The antenna structure is constructed from non-concentric two elliptical patches for broad band applications in spread spectrum systems. Two identical antennas are fed with a microstrip line of two branches with a phase shift to perform a Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modulation. Using Computer Simulation Technology/Microwave Studio (CSTMWS) based on Finite Integral Technique (FIT) of Frequency Domain (FD) algorithm, an optimization process is applied to design the transmission line structure at the desired resonance frequency of the antenna element. The other important part that is achieved in this work is the antenna patch reduction to be suitable for biomedical devices. A cylindrical substrate is used to bend the antenna structure on for biomedical applications. Finally, the antenna shows a gain of 2.5dBi at 5.03GHz with a phase shift about 180°.
