On the joint topological, dimensioning and location problem for broadband networks

In this paper we tackle the problem of jointly finding the optimal location of the ATM switches, the topology of the backbone and local access networks, the dimension of switches and links between switches. We propose a mixed 0-1 integer programming formulation for the problem. Computational results for two examples will be presented and discussed.
