Impact of Offshore Wind Power on Transient Stability of Power System and Control Strategy Optimization

Due to large charging power of the submarine cable, with existing control strategy of DFIG during low voltage ride through (LVRT), the offshore wind farm connected to the grid through long-distance submarine cables is prone to transient over-voltage, which may affect the transient stability of power system. In this paper, the equivalent model of DFIG is established by analyzing transient characteristics and LVRT control strategy of DFIG. Based on the simple power system transient stability analysis model with wind power integration, the equal area criterion is used to analyze the influence of the DFIG control strategy on transient stability of power system. Aiming at the overvoltage problem that may be faced after the LVRT of offshore wind farm due to the submarine cable capacitance effect, optimizing reactive power control strategy for offshore wind farm, the coordination transient voltage control strategy of DFIG and reactive power compensation device is proposed. The time domain simulation is carried out, and the results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively suppress transient overvoltage.
