Design and Control of DC Microgrids (DCMG) Systems for Improving Reliability and Stability of Data Centers

Distribution systems that depended on dc voltages which do not have reactive power loading the lines do not need to synchronize the grid frequency and the equivalent resistance in the conductor tends to be slightly smaller. Therefore, the systems intrinsically tend to become simpler and more efficient. Microgrids and dc distribution systems applied to data centers bring a potentially higher efficiency improvement, due to the penetration of dc-based loads. The paper also examines the ability of a DC microgrid to facilitate provide high degrees of critical load availability. Relation and transfer power between grid, diesel generator and battery are presented. Using PLC and HMI helps to control the switching conditions. In order to be able to maintain the constant voltage at the DC bus at all times, without stopping to disappear or collapse.
