Computation of characteristic impedance and losses of multiconductor anisotropic transmission lines using the finite element method

A full-wave approach based on a finite element method using a curl-conforming/Lagrange triangular element is employed for the electromagnetic analysis of multiconductor transmission lines. Several post processes provide frequency dependent parameters useful for the circuit designer, like the propagation and attenuation constant, the characteristic impedance matrix, and so on. A comparison of the computed results with those obtained by other authors and methods is provided.
