Cavitation Phenomenon and Its Effects in Francis Turbines and Amassed Adeptness of Hydel Power Plant

Hydel energy is the immensely economical, uncontaminated and environment friendly source of power generation. Approximately, more than 20% of world's energy demand is being accomplished by the hydel power generation. recent decades, hydel power generation has gained imperative significance. The performance of hydel plants is dependent upon several parameters i.e., type of turbine being used, design plant, rating of turbine, head of plant, flow rate of water, runner blades and their angle. All turbines are used for their best operation under best efficiency level with optimal values for their rated head, flow rate of water and turbine's speed. Nevertheless, under these condition, phenomenon of cavitation happen to the hydraulic machinery. It's just because of the just because of the reason that dynamical attribute of liquid flow turns unstable with high pressurized fluctuations. Cavitation is ineluctable and inescapable issue in hydel turbines. Cavitation wipes out the performance of turbines. When turbines are being operated partial loads rather than their best efficiency point, they experience cavitation in greater extent. Francis turbines have profile of being operated at several conditions. The focus of this research is occurrence of cavitation in Francis Turbines and how to minimize it.
